On August 16, 2026, the Doctor of Political Science Program, College of Politics and Government, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, organized an academic seminar on political thought entitled “An In-Depth Analysis of the Gulf War and Thailand’s Position on the Global Stage” at the Krung Thon Ballroom, The Royal River Hotel, Bangkok.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Police Lieutenant General Dr. Santhan Chayannon, Dean of the College of Politics and Government and Chairperson of the Doctor of Political Science Program, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, presided over the opening ceremony of the academic seminar. The event was attended by university executives, a Senator, faculty members, academics, students, and interested participants.

The seminar featured two distinguished guest speakers: Mr. Chip Jitniniyom, Senator representing the Mass Media Sector and Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs; and Professor Dr. Jaran Maluleem, Vice President for International Affairs at Krirk University and an academic expert in Middle Eastern Studies. Both speakers shared their knowledge, analyzed current developments, and exchanged perspectives on conflicts in the Gulf region, as well as emerging trends and their implications for international politics.

The seminar was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Keeratiwan Kalyanamitr, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Politics and Governance, who facilitated the discussion and connected key issues throughout the academic exchange.

The seminar focused on two key issues: “How is the Gulf War likely to develop, and will it escalate or come to an end?”, examining the direction of the conflict and its future prospects; and “What position should Thailand adopt to maximize its national interests?”, focusing on approaches and strategies for Thailand’s foreign policy amid the volatility of the global situation.

The project was organized to promote participants’ understanding of the situation and future trends of the Gulf War, as well as to analyze international political factors that could contribute to the escalation or de-escalation of the conflict. It also aimed to examine the potential impacts on Thailand across various dimensions, including the economy, politics, national security, energy, trade, investment, and international relations. Furthermore, the seminar provided a platform for exchanging knowledge and perspectives among faculty members, academics, experts, and students, with the aim of exploring appropriate approaches to Thailand’s foreign policy within the context of a rapidly changing global geopolitical landscape.

The seminar is expected to enable participants to apply the knowledge gained to analyze international situations systematically and comprehensively, understand the linkages between regional conflicts and Thailand’s national interests, and promote academic exchange and collaborative networks in education. These outcomes will contribute to the advancement of political science knowledge and support the development of public policy in the future.
