Dr. Narong Kulnithet, Chairman of the Forensic Science Program and his team, to conduct research on monitoring, inspecting and evaluating the operations and administration of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission. and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), the NBTC Office, and the NBTC Secretary-General by collecting data, analyzing, evaluating, summarizing the results of the study, opinions, and recommendations on consumer protection for the year 2024 to prepare a report that will be useful and affect the work to be efficient and effective, with factual data that can be used to support the evaluation completely, based on facts, and listening to the opinions of stakeholders nationwide, which the report will be presented to the parliament.
Ms. Areewan Chatutong, NBTC’s Consumer Protection Committee, said that since the broadcasting, television and telecommunications businesses of the NBTC have a dimension in consumer protection, the target groups that need special care are vulnerable groups, including children, youth, the elderly and the disabled. The NBTC’s agencies should be aware of the problems in various aspects related to this target group and should solve the problems just like ordinary consumers. This clearly indicates that the NBTC’s work must protect the rights of all citizens equally and fairly. The most important thing that the NBTC must urgently do in 2024 is to make the public aware of the use of technology, especially digital technology related to telecommunications businesses, so that they do not fall victim to fraud.
Ms. Areewan Chatutong, NBTC’s Consumer Protection Committee, added that knowledge is the heart, like a reminder to consumers to be aware of news, images and sounds, including mobile phones, which must be aware and have self-immunity. In addition, the work of building consumer networks should support knowledge and capabilities in all areas. The public expects the NBTC to perform its duties to the fullest extent and work in integration with all agencies to cooperate in creating strength for all sectors. This group discussion meeting is a collaboration of all agencies, including the government, private sector, educational institutions and civil society, that join forces to protect consumer rights in broadcasting, television and telecommunications businesses for maximum benefit for the country.
